Geotextiles
Check out our handy blog section for more information on
projects and uses of geotextiles.
Its folded, I was expecting a roll
We supply a lot of geotextiles in folded pieces, only the
larger orders are supplied on a roll. This is because we specialise in small
cuts from domestic uses. Also this allows us to package it smaller and save you
money on your cost price. The rolls we use are very long and large and we cut
them down to size for our pieces.
Which way up?
Don’t worry you can use your geotextile any way you want,
the non-woven geotextile is heat bonded so even if the two sides look a little
different it doesn’t matter which side goes down. The same can be said for the
woven type too, even though sometimes the green planting lines along the fabric
can be helpful on the top.
How much do I need?
We sell our geotextile in area sizes so just get your length
area and multiply it by you width length for a total area measurement.
L x W = Area M2
Don’t forget to include any overlap sections in your size
requirements. Overlap needs to be at least 30cm and in high traffic areas up to
50cm. Overlap will help to prevent weak spots and at joins.
How do I cut my Geotextile?
Best to use sharp scissors or a new Stanley blade.
Please note with woven fabric due to its design will fray if
cut.
How do I secure my geotextile?
Depending on your project you may wish to add additional
pegs to secure down your fabric this should be done at all edges and joins even
with overlap.
1 per m1 is recommended
Do I need woven or non-woven?
Both have similarities and some technical differences.
This mainly depends on your planned project – take a look at our blog section or send us an email.
Overlap
Remember when planning your geotextile size that any joins
will require overlap of 500mm. this is to stop weak points when laying.
